Crosshouse Hospital, Kilmarnock
Welcoming Look Created for New Maternity Unit
A cheerful and essentially non-clinical ambience welcomes patients, staff and visitors to the new maternity unit at Crosshouse Hospital in Kilmarnock, thanks to the use of hotel-style seating and occasional furniture supplied by Knightsbridge Furniture.
Under guidance from the Knightsbridge team as to colour, style and general layout, the procurement officers at NHS Ayrshire & Arran have chosen furniture to complement the tasteful slate floor and bright, open-plan environment within the new unit. For the main reception area, the company's Geo compact chairs, twin-seat settees and matching stools evoke a contemporary freshness, with their sleek geometric design and subtle detailing. The stylish edge continues into the examination rooms, where traditional hospital furniture has been rejected in favour of smart and compact Vienna tub chairs and Kintyre multi-function recliners.
Elsewhere, waiting and internal reception areas have been fitted with Rondo beam seating: with its combination of gleaming aluminium and natural wood, Rondo captures a balance of warmth and flair which is maintained by the use of matching chairs and tables in the café-style dining area.
