Knightsbridge Furniture is helping to create a homely atmosphere in a residential care home for children and young adults in Bangor, County Down.
The Marmion Care Home, operated by Northern Ireland’s South Eastern Health & Social Care Trust, caters for up to eight residents at a time, all children and young people under 18. To reflect the energy and taste of the occupants, furnishings throughout the home are comfortable and contemporary, with bright colours and simple shapes creating a feeling of youthful zest. ‘I chose Knightsbridge furniture for the lounge areas because it is robust, but at the same time domestic looking - creating the desired 'homely' atmosphere,’ explains project Art & Design Coordinator Roberta Sittlington.
Included in the commission were settees from the Knightsbridge Marlowe range and compact tub chairs from the company’s Vienna collection, all in shades of nut-brown and russet hide to complement the warm apricot palettes adopted for the walls and soft furnishings. Contemporary curves define the Marlowe and add to the supportive and comfortable sit, whilst the timeless styling and essential durability of the Vienna collection make it a versatile option for seating, not just in lounge areas but also in bedrooms and staff accommodation.
In the TV lounge, a bolder colour story is evident, with the tone set by Knightsbridge Shelley armchairs and twin-seat settees upholstered in a vibrant and soft purple fabric. Here, a clean modern design and inviting plump upholstery is enhanced by a touch of elegance with feet in solid wood, bringing together high levels of comfort with unobtrusive styling.
