Tron Lounge Seating

Tron is strong, striking and stylish. It’s contemporary aesthetic is at home in both workplace and hospitality settings with its powerful and dynamic presence. Brought to market through a collaboration with furniture maker and TV personality, Bruce Kenneth, Tron has been thoughtfully designed to evoke movement and confidence. Created under Knightsbridge Furniture’s long-standing sustainability ethos, Tron seeks to minimise any harmful effects on the environment that furniture production could inadvertently contribute towards. All of the materials used within the creation of the Tron range were responsibly and thoughtfully sourced. All while meeting the stringent guidelines set by the sustainability bodies to which Knightsbridge is a committed member.

Design – A Short Insight

Like all Knightsbridge pieces, the design of the Tron collection was thoughtfully and carefully planned. The range has been designed predominantly for workplace and hospitality settings. That is to say environments known for innovative thinking, bright ideas and inspiring interiors. Inspired by angles and motion, the Tron range evokes a sense of movement. Fascinated by the sense of static objects appearing ‘in action’, Bruce brought this detail to the project as a key inspiration behind the piece. The range evokes architecture. It has having been designed with clean, hard lines, in to create interesting geometric shapes within the chair frame. In Bruce’s words, the piece “takes your eye on a journey around the chair” to imbue a personality and a dynamic motion to the piece.

Considering the ergonomic requirements of a multifunctional workplace and hospitality space were a key consideration. Tron looks to meet all of these requirements. The strong design signature of Tron sets it apart from other contract furniture collections currently on the market. The striking angular sections bring flavours of the curvilinear shapes seen in the Art Nouveau period. A feature which reflected in furniture pieces created throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Moreover, this element of old meets new offers a compelling balance when setting Tron within a modern setting. Allowing the range to retain its unique look and feel while fitting seamlessly within a modern office or opulent hospitality interior.

Designer Comments

Jason Brown, Director of Design & Development at Knightsbridge Furniture, said:

“Working with Bruce back in 2021 on the initial Tron designs was an absolute pleasure and really captured what Knightsbridge is all about – combining stylish designs with functionality. We’ve always admired Bruce’s unique style and knew the Tron would be a collection we’d love to develop further to explore the needs of the hospitality and hotelier markets. After a discussion, we decided the distinctive frame of the Tron would look amazing as a lounge chair, and so the Tron lounge chair was born.”

The Tron lounge chair is available in solid walnut, solid oak or stained beech finishes and can be upholstered in any fabric. There’s also the option to add a matching footrest.

Commenting on the new design, Bruce said:

“Knightsbridge’s expert craftsmanship is something that drew me in when looking to collaborate with a furniture manufacturer, and evolving the collection further is an amazing progression of our partnership. I set out to create something that although static, doesn’t appear stagnant, and takes you on a journey of movement as you look at the chair. We’ve captured this perfectly and can hopefully continue to develop it further to bring it to more sectors to enjoy too.”
