Knightsbridge Sponsors the Young Furniture Makers Innovation Award
Knightsbridge are proud to announce that they are sponsoring the Young Furniture Makers Innovation Award. Moreover, they will provide the winner with the unique opportunity of two weeks’ work experience.
The Furniture Makers’ Company is a charity tied to the British furnishing industry. Markedly, it was set up over 100 years ago. All in the interest of helping people from the industry in times of hardship. Subsequently, they now support the education of students by nurturing skills and expertise. In doing so they encourage new talent with their extensive education programme to support school children, students and also young professionals. The Young Furniture Makers provides students with valuable information and networking opportunities with senior members who have come from all sectors of the furnishing industry.
Keeping up with the ever-evolving industry, the Young Furniture Makers will be launching a newly branded show with treble the number of exhibitors. Around 80 of the finest young furniture designers and makers will be exhibiting over three floors and across two buildings.
The Innovation Award can be contested by any student who has developed a furniture design idea. This will be decided by assessing the potential of their design to assist in developing an innovative product or service. Entrants must be in full-time education, a private/commercial furniture designer-maker course. Those have recently graduated from a UK university or college are also eligible.
Finally, the award will be announced at the Young Furniture Makers’ Exhibition at Furniture Makers’ Hall. Currently this is scheduled for the 10th October. The winner will receive a prize of two weeks work experience with Knightsbridge. This will allow them the opportunity to see the complete design and manufacturing process working closely with the in house Knightsbridge Design team.
